It's a quite usual street filled with random people eating, shouting, and of course bargaining. I could see lots of roadside stalls there, probably you can call it a market place where people sell and buy products.
Because of these carrots, you might think it's an open vegetable market, even in my town we have one. But here in kodaikanal hills, they were selling fresh carrots on the street. Freshly cultivated colorful carrots with fresh green leaves in bunches. Not in one particular shop, the whole street has 5 to 6 shops selling carrots alone. Interesting huh? and they really taste yum!
